Consultation & Identification
Lincrusta Heritage provides authoritative on-site and desk-based consultation to assist clients in establishing the material identity, provenance, approximate dating and condition of surviving embossed wallcoverings. Where original material is no longer accessible, design identification may be pursued through microscopic analysis of residual samples or through systematic examination of historic photographic and archival records.

Material Surveys & Professional Reporting
Our condition surveys are comprehensive, professionally authored documents accompanied by full digital imagery of all relevant archival sources. Reports are prepared to a standard suitable for submission in support of listed building consent applications, heritage funding bids, and the preparation of conservation management plans.

Microscopic Analysis & Asbestos Assessment
A defining feature of our practice is the capacity to undertake microscopic materials analysis, enabling precise identification of wallcovering composition and manufacturing characteristics. This service incorporates asbestos screening - a consideration of particular importance when handling wallcovering materials installed prior to the mid-twentieth century.

Archival Building Research
We conduct systematic archival research into the documentary history of buildings and their interior decorative schemes. The resulting evidence base serves to inform and strengthen planning applications, listed building submissions, and grant funding proposals requiring demonstration of historic significance.

Restoration & Conservation
All conservation and restoration work is carried out exclusively by qualified conservators holding advanced specialist training in the treatment of Lincrusta and embossed raised-relief surfaces. Interventions are guided by established conservation ethics, prioritising the long-term preservation of original fabric through the use of reversible, historically sympathetic methods and materials.

Bespoke Replication
Where original designs can no longer be retained or sourced through existing commercial channels, Lincrusta Heritage offers a bespoke replication service of exceptional precision. Employing advanced three-dimensional imaging technology and the manufacture of custom replication moulds, we are able to recreate lost historic patterns from photographic evidence alone.
